We feel the best way to support parents is to listen and meet frequently with someone who they can talk to and feel part of their unique learning journey.
Children attending the Centre are supported by a key worker.
The key worker will support children by :-
- Promoting parents as equal partners in all services to their child
- Supporting advocacy to enable parents and carers to make informed choices
- Giving emotional support to parents and other key members through active listening as opposed to formal counselling
- Helping the family to promote the child’s well being, play and development
- Helping parents to get answers to their questions about their child’s condition
- Helping parents to get information about all relevant services and benefits
- Helping parents coordinate the professionals and services around them
- Helping parents to integrate all interventions to ensure a holistic picture of their child’s abilities and needs
- Ensure their is a team working around the child
- Supporting children, family/carers on transition into nursery/school
- Supporting the children, family/carers by making referrals to other services
